The 14 Warning Signs of Fascism
- Powerful Nationalism — Constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other propaganda
- Human Rights Disdain — Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, human rights are often set aside
- Enemies as Scapegoats — People are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived threat
- Military Supremacy — Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of resources
- Rampant Sexism — Traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion, homosexuality, and divorce
- Controlled Media — Media is directly controlled by the government or indirectly through regulation and sympathetic leaders
- National Security — Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses
- Religion & Government — Governments use the most common religion to manipulate public opinion
- Corporate Power — The industrial and business aristocracy often puts government leaders into power
- Labor Power Suppressed — Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government
